Along the rustic streets of Buyong Maribago in Lapu-Lapu City lies a four-star-rated tropical resort that offers luxurious accommodations, good food, top-notch spa services, and a relaxing swim to both day visitors and guests.
Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort
Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort, that's what it is, continued to be called by the all-Filipino-owned corporation that conceptualized it in July of 1989.

We were blessed enough to be there in December 2011, and with that indigenous Christmas tree as a centerpiece, I immediately knew that it would be a stay worth remembering for years to come.
Comfy Reception Area at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort

It was the second time the whole Luistro clan had gone out of town, and quite interestingly, it was our family's first plane trip within the Philippines after a decade or so.

I loved the resort's signature drink: Lemongrass Juice, which was served as soon as we arrived. It was so refreshingly good!

Interestingly, after checking in, we were billeted to our room, a mere three-minute walk from the reception area. A kind staff member was on standby with an umbrella to protect us from the sudden rain.

When I saw the rooms' beautiful facades, I suddenly wanted to run upwards and see what our assigned room looked like.

A private veranda welcomed me and the Balingkis.
When I turned to the right, I saw a half-opened Capiz shell door, which teased me into taking a peek.
There it was! Our elegant home away from home for the next three days!

The room was filled with indigenous-styled furniture in soothing earth colors.

A mini bar...

And a fairly large closet to boot.
Free coffee and tea. Well, as expected, the snacks weren't.
There was a vanity set on the right...
...and the door beside it led to the posh bathroom in cream and gold.
It features the standard freebies: Bottled water and some toiletries.

A charming shower plus a bathtub invite me to take a hot soak.

Here, Tutapel is shown doing what seemed to be his favorite pastime during our stay—never-endingly opening and locking the door. Toddlers!

A fantastic view overlooking the private veranda.

Not a bad thing to wake up to every single morning...
Several dark, indigenous beach lounge chairs accented the garden wing, complementing the rooms' signature brown hues.

Since we were there during the Christmas season, several lanterns were put up in this portion of the resort.

During the day, these decorations looked festive enough.

But at night, the lanterns provided a veil of mystery and a degree of solemnity to the area.
When I saw this fixture, I remember being fascinated by its symmetry and form, which somehow created the illusion of a tunnel with a unique and traditional twist.

The resort also contained several marine wildlife lagoons, which always made me smile.
Tutapel loved running around the resort as a true toddler, much to Bala's exhaustion.
Allegro Restaurant @ Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort
Aside from running, Tutapel also loved the food there. There was even an overflowing buffet breakfast, which piqued the interest of the rest of the family. I will separate this into a separate post to prove this.
Beside the Allegro Restaurant was another lagoon-shaped pool with a cascading waterfall-inspired fixture. It was really cool! I don't know why, but it reminds me of the pool in a Thai hotel featured in my all-time favorite Korean Drama, Full House, featuring Rain and Song Hye Kyo.
The whole clan @ Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort
The best part for me was seeing Tutapel having the time of his life swimming with his Dad and cousins in the kiddie pool!

They even demonstrated a flair for the arts when they visited the resort gallery!

A few meters from the playground, I saw a private island that was accessible only to resort guests and not to day visitors. I don't know why, but it resembled Beach Resort in Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, which we had visited years before.
Anyway, here's my version of the private island caught on video. Please press the HD button for better enjoyment.

Moving along, I also saw the resort's Amuma Spa, which offered a variety of signature therapies like Hilot and several Western and Eastern Massage techniques such as Water Shiatsu (WATSU), Swedish, Namikoshi Shiatsu, Duot, Hot Stone, and Travel Revive Fusion.
For some reason, a generous foreigner gave Bala three gift certificates that she couldn't use, so she generously gave them to the first person she saw—who else but my hubby, who was just running after Tutapel. That night, Bala and his siblings R & R availed themselves of the freebies. When Tutapel and I met with Bala an hour later, he looked more relaxed. Oh, bless that person, whoever she was.

This places seems nice! Especially if you seek for privacy. The price list is also reasonable. I've never been to Cebu (yes, how unfortunate >__<) but I'll definitely consider staying here. :)

ReplyDeleteA beach vacation can be a rewarding and soul inspiring experience. A day at the beach provides the opportunity to experience being in the moment. You would also enjoy the physical pleasures of the sun and wind while on your beach vacation. So just go for it..
