I am blessed to have met some of the most musically gifted people here and abroad as a former announcer/producer of 98.7 DZFE-The Master's Touch- the country's only classical music station. To this day, I can't help but get starstruck whenever I remember all the interviews I've been privileged to conduct.
Aside from that, I was also surrounded by equally-gifted friends during my college days who served as inspiration for my own musical pursuits, though amateurish by nature. 😀
We all went to the UP College of Music Extension Program (UP CMEP) to study Voice, Reading Solfege, and Music Theory for a few semesters before my friends decided to apply either for the Bachelor of Music Degree or Certificate Program. On the other hand, I didn't pursue it as a course because I've always known my musical abilities were not up to par with the rest.
We've come to believe that the UP CMEP is a great venue to cultivate your musical talent regardless of whether you want to pursue it as a would-be profession.
In essence, the UP College of Music Extension Program is a non-degree program of study that offers a set of music courses to provide comprehensive musicianship for youth, adults, musicians, and music educators who are not officially enrolled in the College of Music degree offerings.
The program develops musicianship skills through one-on-one learning (or in a classroom type of setting) of musical instruments and other related areas of music experience, such as the following: Piano, Jazz, Strings, Voice & Dance (Ballet), Winds & Percussion, Music Composition, Choral Conducting, Choral Arranging, Orchestration, Creative Music Experiences for Children, Songwriting, Reading Solfege, and Music Theory.
Here are the different significant instruments and areas of concentration being offered by the UP CMEP alongside their semestral fees:

The great thing is even our kids as young as 4 years old can enroll in the viral Creative Music Experiences for Children course alongside other sessions in their musical instruments of choice.
Registration for the 1st semester (2014-2015) will be from June 16 to 20, 2014 ( Monday to Friday), 9-11:30 AM and 1-3:30 PM only at the UP CMEP office at the UP College of Music (Abelardo Hall).
Classes start on June 21 for Saturday and June 23 for weekday sessions.
