A Different Kind of Food & Drink Soiree at CAFE FRANCE, CIBO & SINFULLY BY MAKATI SHANGRI-LA

While researching for an article I wrote about food cravings many years ago, I came across several studies pointing to the strong connection between food and love, rituals, and holidays.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're constantly looking for delicious dishes to share with loved ones now that Christmas is so close.

Here is the FIRST in a series of Food and Drink Soirees hosted by TIMELESS CONFECTION, just in time for this most blessed of seasons.

Okay, so let's get started.

CAFE FRANCE

Shoppers looking to maximize their perks are standard on the bridge connecting SM Makati and Glorietta. Café France has made this their holy ground over the past few years by consistently providing excellent takeout and table service.

The cafe's unassuming atmosphere and delicious frappes make it a great place to relax between errands. Seafood Marinara, which is cooked al dente and covered in an appealing sauce, is one of our favorites, as is the cafe's signature seasonal frappes and the genuinely delightful Seafood Soup Linguine.

Thankfully, Cibo's dedication to serving excellent food with fresh, high-quality ingredients has allowed it to remain on virtually everyone's list of go-to restaurants for years. As the old adage goes, "third time's a charm," but I was hooked right from the start in Cibo's case. Forget my corny jokes, but don't discount my gushing over the restaurant's Rigatoni Alla Bolognese Con Panna, which features a sauce of meat, cream, and parmesan and is served al dente.

They bake their Prosciutto di Parma with tomatoes, mozzarella, ham, arugula, and parmesan, all of which go very well together. When accompanied by Cibo's Pomelo fruit shake, the subtleties of both meals are brought to the fore.

SINFULLY BY MAKATI SHANGRI-LA

Sinfully by Makati Shangri-la, located just a few stores away from CIBO Dieci, it is famous for its wide selection of high-quality gingerbreads and other sweets. I love their pralines and macarons; they satisfy my sweet tooth and make excellent holiday presents for coworkers and friends.

Besides the dazzling Opal Coffee Cake, which combines citrus and coffee, you must sample Sinfully's thick, creamy cheesecake. Sinfully's bread offerings may appeal just as much to smaller fans of sweets.
